Who were her parents?
Rachel McFarland married Stephen Hopkins about 1823 and they lived in Claiborne and Hancock Countes in
Tennessee. It is not known exactly where they were married but it was likely in that general area. They had
12 children - 2 sons (George and John) and 10 daughters (Nancy, Rebecca, Betsey, Mary, Catherine, Sally,
Eliza, Martha, Calvina and Serena). They also raised several grandchildren. Between 1861 and 1865, they
moved to Harlan County, Kentucky and Rachel died there between 1870 and 1880.
I have no clue who Rachel's parents were. I haven't found any McFarlands or any other surname close to
that in the Hancock/Claiborne County, Tennessee area.
