  General Notes:

Even though no actual documentation exists to establish Winifred as the daughter of Henry & Mary Mullins, it is very likely for several reasons. Paul W. Gregory, a retired genealogist and author of "Early Settlers of the Reddies River" states that all the evidence indicates that Winefred is the daughter of Henry and Mary Mullins, as they are the only Mullins family living near the Owen farm in Wilkes County, North Carolina. David & Winefred moved from Wilkes County, North Carolina to Rockcastle County, Kentucky at about the same time as Henry & Mary Mullins and several of their sons. In additon, the Owen's & Mullins' often married cousins and two of Winefred sons married daughters of Spencer & Champ Mullins (both probably sons of Henry).

According to David Owen's Rev. War Pension Records, Elisha Owen stated he knew the date his mother died because it was on her tombstone. The record does not indicate the name of the cemetery and she could not be found in the Rockcastle County Cemetery Book published in 1986.
