Bennett household, State Line, Heard County, Georgia: John, Martha and four of their children (Nancy, Justian, Thomas and Anna) were living together. John was listed as a hireling, age 30, born in Georgia. 3645 • Civil War, Confederate Military Service, 4 August 1862-12 June 1865: John enlisted in Company I, 41st Georgia Infantry of the Confederate Army on 4 Aug 1862 in Franklin [Heard County], Georgia. He was promoted to Sergeant on 1 Nov 1863 and was captured on 16 Dec 1864. He was a prisoner of war at the Military Prison in Louisville, Kentucky and at Camp Chase, Ohio.
