She was listed as Samantha Petty, age 9, born in Tennessee. [Other records indicate that she was born in Georgia.] 1545 • 1880 United States Federal Census, Lee Hankins household, Hopkins County, Kentucky: Lee, Samantha and their son Dick were living in Earlington. She was listed as Amantha Hankins, wife, age 18, born in Kentucky (although she was actually born in Georgia). 1482
• 1900 United States Federal Census, Lee Hankins household, Hopkins County, Kentucky: Samantha was living with her husband and 5 children. She was listed as Manthus Hankins, wife, age 39, born Apr 1861 in Georgia, married for 21 years, mother of 6 children, 5 living. 2813 • 1910 United States Federal Census, Tom L. Samantha had seen the Texas as a child in Georgia during the Civil War and saw the engine again on a visit to Atlanta, Georgia when she was 81 years old. The house number at that time and when Samantha died in 1944 was 704. In 2005, there were no structures in what would be the 700 block of W. Broadway. Lee & Samantha's house had been renumbered 440.
