Mrs. Leila Mae Hopkins, 80, of Route 1, Mt. Vernon, passed away Thursday, February 5 at the Rockcastle County Baptist Hospital after a long illness,
She was born in Rockcastle County January 22, 1890, the daughter of the late Frank and Nancy Chestnut Hunt and was a member of the Undenominational Church.
Besides her husband, Elijah Hopkins, she is survived by four sons, Wade and John Hopkins, both of Route 1, Mt Vernon, Berl Hopkins of Berea, and Earl Hopkins of Mt. Vernon [error - Lexington]; one daughter, Irene Hopkins of Route 1, Mt. Vernon; one brother, Wade Hunt of Berea; two sisters, Mrs. Zelma Sams of Hamilton, Ohio and Mrs. Grace Cope of Route 1, Mt. Vernon, 9 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, February 7 at 2 p.m. at Sparks Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Dennis Falb and Rev. Clarence Mounce. Burial was in the Maretburg Cemetery.
